Parents and Friends Association

A very active PFA exists in Ysgol Gyfun Emlyn.  As well as fund raising and organising social events we are strongly supportive of campaigns.  We are represented on school working parties, we are a registered charity and a member of the National Confederation of Parent Teacher Associations.

The aims of the association are to:

  • Develop a more extended relationship between the staff, parents and others associated with the school.

  • Engage in activities which support the school and advance the education of the pupils attending it.

  • Provide and assist in the provision of such facilities or items for education at the school ( not provided from statutory funds).

We provide refreshments at the annual open evening for prospective pupils and at all the parents evenings throughout the year.  We fund a prize for pupil attendance each year.  We have a stationery and used school uniform shop in school, we sell plants grown in the school greenhouse during the summer months and  proceeds from the sale of these items go into PFA funds.  We have an Easter Egg raffle each year for the pupils with eggs donated by staff and parents.

Some of the items we have purchased for the school over the years have included:

  • help with the cost of the school mini bus and school trips;

  • picnic tables and benches;

  •  furniture for the sixth form common room;

  •  sport equipment;

  • books for the library and

  • resources for the special needs department.

All parents are automatically members of the PFA and we would be very pleased to see you at future meetings and fund raising events, and of course if you have any ideas of your own ...
